TGIF(AFTT) = Thank God It’s Friday And For That Tiramisu

3:00 PM: TGIF(AFTT) = Thank God It’s Friday And For That Tiramisu. Between a bevy of productive meetings, I was lucky enough to self-reward with a sweet treat and an oatmeal face mask from my Upper East Side home office. The 1 PM external board meeting with Valerie Bartlett of Commit2Change went far better than expected, queuing me up for a likely gala planning lead for the nonprofit’s American arm. Touched base with a VC named Albert Rosano promptly after the call with Valerie ended. Albert, a Wharton alum, sits on the board of directors at a female-founded startup, which, he cites, is largely why he felt compelled to learn more about all I do at Darling Anaïs. We are locked into a second conference a week from today to delve deeper into preseed funding options, tasking me with the duty of reworking our pitch deck with the latest market data and updates of my product development strategy over this final weekend of January.
Where does the time fly? …Amirite?
Instagram detox, like sobriety, still going strong (!). My dear friend the interior designer, writer, and part-time Londoner Owen Holmes broke the news that he will indefinitely be calling the Upper West Side home. As practical neighbors, we are to ring in our post-holiday reunion on the 843-acre glorious turf of Central Park, to which I’m elatedly looking forward.
On the national fiduciary side, as a journalist, I am a fan of how Bloomberg editor David Rovella has stated that “the U.S. isn’t out of the woods.” Because it’s true! Even with inflation more-or-less slowing as the economy continues to retain an impressive post-lockdown cadence (2.9% growth in the fourth quarter despite a 0.2% decline in consumer spending), according to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, the spiking interest rates set in place by the Fed as a way to forestall recession could have the opposite impact, and I agree to a tee. Alas, here’s to hoping for the best possible outcome on all fronts!
